My summary of Definely before using it — Definely is a legal AI product, possibly similar to Harvey, Robin AI and Luminance.

How does Definely explain itself in the first minute? “Create, draft and review legal documents in one place, with one tool.” reads the headline on definely.com. Definely offers a solution “that helps lawyers at every pre-execution stage of the contract lifecycle.”

How does Definely work? Definely has built several features to help lawyers save time on repetitive time consuming tasks. These features are underpinned by Definely’s “Vault”, where documents can be uploaded and which is integrated with a law firm’s knowledge base of choice. Users can save specific clauses and definitions in their knowledge base to be used for future contract reviews across their firm.

Definely uses language based generative AI and RAG to suggest relevant clauses to the person drafting the contract. Integrating with MS Word, users will see suggestions to auto complete text or insert a specific clause whilst they’re drafting a contract.

Definely also offers automated proof reading capability to spot inconsistent contract definitions or terms in a document a well cross-reference issues.

Definely charges a subscription fee to individuals lawyers and enterprises. Depending on the package, a typical individual subscription costs £75–90 a month.

Main learning point: The game for legal AI products is definitely on. Definely’s value proposition is a compelling one for legal professionals, and I’m curious to see how it will differentiate itself from competitive products such as Harvey and Luminance.
